Menus
We mentioned in our last newsletter that we were going to change our menus and we have done just that! We hope that you have noticed an improvement in the recipes and the balance of nutrition, - fresh fruit and veg. as well as extra food on offer at tea-times for those hungrier children. As always, if you would like to suggest something new for us to try, please jot it down on the comment sheet in reception.
Birth to Three Matters
Those of you with children in our younger sections should have received an information sheet giving details of the government's "Birth to Three Matters“. This is a framework to provide support, information, guidance and challenge for all those with responsibility for the care and education of babies and children in their earliest years. The framework -
- values and celebrates babies and children
- recognises their individuality, efforts and achievements and their need to develop and learn through interactions with people and exploration of the world around them
- recognises the "holistic" nature of development and learning
- acknowledges, values and supports the adults that work with babies and young children
- provides opportunities for reflection on practice
|
- informs and develops practice whilst acknowledging that working with babies and children is a complex, challenging and demanding task.
We hope that the framework will help us improve our current practice, however, you, as parents, should only notice subtle changes in, for example, the experiences and activities provided for the children. We will be using the framework to help us meet each child's individual needs more fully by providing them with more developmentally appropriate experiences in order for them to progress and develop further. In order to help staff become more familiar with the framework, Sarah has created a display in both the Babyroom and the Toddlers. If this is of interest to you, please take time to look at the display and should you have any questions, please speak to Sarah.
